About us Reach Beyond Basketball is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was formed in 2010 by John F Kennedy Head Boys Basketball Coach, Lenny Myers. Coach Myers’ vision of Reach Beyond came from his desire to develop youth with fundamental basketball skills as well as skills necessary to achieve success in life. Through his work in the community for the past 20 years, Coach Myers wants to help kids “Reach Beyond” the norm to achieve excellence on and off the court. Myers uses the 4C’s as teaching points. Confidence, Commitment, Consistency, and Character.
Founder/Director Coach Lenny Myers
Coach Myers is a Montgomery County native who graduated from Magruder high school and played under the legendary hall of fame coach Dan Harwood. Myers went on to play basketball at Montgomery College and Shenandoah University, majoring in Kinesiology-Sports Management. He is currently in his 18th year as a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools. Myers completed his 4th season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Kennedy High School, leading them to back to back division titles and back to back regional final appearances. Myers has also won several awards for his work in education and in the community. In 2020, he was named Educator of the month by the Washington Football Team(Commanders).
